Our exposure to Jared was over a two year period in the construction of a project that Novak+Middleton were responsible for the design, documentation and contract administration.

The project involved the construction of a very complex new residential dwelling over five levels, culminating with a pool on the roof. The challenging topography of the site, the complex nature of the building structure and the high level of finishing detail required very developed skills throughout the whole process.

Jared was employed by A.Sparks Builders, who ran the main contract for the construction of the building. Jared’s role was as the main foreman. From the very beginning of the project it became
obvious that Jared had a unique ability to understand the desired end result and through careful planning able to make important decisions early on in the construction process that had a positive effect on the overall outcome. Jared had the ability to anticipate potential issues that may have arisen and prepared his work with care. He had a high level of attention to detail, taking great pride in the work that he was responsible for and would not compromise the quality of the end result.

Due to the complex nature of the project there were often discussions on site around how to achieve a desired result. Jared regularly contributed to these discussions and was able to apply
his technical knowledge of construction methods and practice to help achieve this. Jared had a good understanding and knowledge of the regulatory environment of the construction industry
which was also important during these discussions.

Jared’s role also involved the organising and managing of the sub trade work on site. He gained and maintained the respect of the sub-trade contractors, encouraging them to work to the same
high standards that he strived for. The success of this project is the result of alot of hard work by many people. Jared was instrumental in this process and his contribution directly relates to the success of the end result.

The house has since gone on to win a New Zealand Institute of Architects award for architecture.

Jared is an excellent builder who takes great pride and care in his work. We would have no hesitation in working with Jared on future projects.
